Rotary Club of Cuttack Midtown

Rotary Club of Cuttack Midtown was grandly chartered on 21 August 1981 the Charter of which was handed over by the then District Governor Dr.Sukumar Das. Prior to this, there was only one club functioning at Cuttack since 1945. Eighties saw a rapid surge in the Rotary movement and the leaders saw a necessity for another Club in Cuttack by which the movement could gain momentum. The responsibility for forming this club was entrusted to PP Rtn. Sukumar Sen. To start with, 25 Charter Members with Justice Nabakishore Das as President and Rtn. Rabindranath Mohanty (deputed from the Rotary Club of Cuttack) started the meeting at Cuttack Club Annexe on Friday Evenings. Thus born one of the finest and most vibrant clubs of today, the Rotary Club of Cuttack Mid-Town. But, that is now History. Presently, it is a complete club with an active Inner Wheel, upcoming Rotaract, Energetic Interact, and Committed RCC. The Rotary Club of Cuttack Midtown is presently considered one of the leading lighthouse clubs in District 3262 (earlier 3260) with numerous recognitions for outstanding performances.

The expansion of the Rotary activities of this Club is worth mentioning. In 1998, the Rotary Club of Cuttack Silvercity (GSR PP Dr.Niranjan Tripathy) was sponsored. To add feathers to our cap, Rotary Club of Paradeep in 2000 (GSR PP Dr.Ranjan Singh) and Rotary Club of Choudwar (GSR PP Dr.Ranjan Singh) in 2001, Rotary Club of Kendrapara Central in 2003 (GSR PP Dr.Ranjan Singh), Rotary Club of Cuttack Greenfield in 2007 (GSR PP Subhranshu Samantaray), Rotary Club of Cuttack Greater in 2008 (GSR PP Dr.Tophan Pati), Rotary Club of Raigarh Greater in 2012 (GSR PP Raghunath Bhut), Rotary Club of Nillanchala, Puri in 2016-17 (GSR PP Subhranshu Samantaray) & Rotary Club of Cuttack Abhinav in 2016-17 (GSR PP Subhranshu Samantaray) were sponsored. The Club has been working jointly with these clubs on several Community Service Projects which include the adoption of Ramadevi Sishu Vihar, a Veterinary Hospital, a School and WCS Project at Andhei Sahi, Gopinathpur (Drinking water and irrigation facilities), and Cyclone Shelter and School at Akhyanagar, Managalasahi. The Club produced three District Governors in the form of Late Dr.Akulanand Sarangi (1985-86), Rtn. Dr.Gopal Chandra Kar (2000-01) & Rtn.Dr.Ranjan Singh (2004-05). Moreover, Mrs.Pushpalata Mohanty (2002-03), Mrs.Laxmi Samantaray (2011-12), and Mrs.Anita Pati (2014-15) were the District Chairman of I.W. District 326. Rtr.Suvendu Patnaik was D.R.R. for the years 97-98, Itr. Sweta Mohanty and Simlin Pattnaik were DIRs for 93-94 and 99-2000 respectively. Rotary Club of Cuttack Mid-Town has proudly placed itself on the map of RI Dist. 3262 among the other fellow Clubs.
